Primate Visual System
Like many people, I was shocked by the great work of Van Essen et al. Their famous figure of the primate visual system hierarchy guided our exploration in this field. However, the connections in this figure are so complex that sometimes we may get lost and hardly fetch the information we need. So I made this page to help us make better use of Van Essen's figure.
INSTRUCTION
Press on each brain area (such as LIP), and the areas connected with it (VIP, PO, MT...) will be highlighted in green frames. Those connections will be represented by red lines. In this way, we can easily see the relationship between the area we are interested in and other areas.
The figure was adapted from DC Van Essen, CH Anderson and DJ Felleman, Science, 1992
